Desert Modern

  • Desert Modern reflects a wistful vacuum in palm springs where yearning nostalgia connects with a looming suburban stillness. Hushed streets, desolate and meandering, reveal row after row of low-level, sleek lines. Mid-century modern abodes composed with emblematic breeze blocks, stretched panes of glass, and brightly coloured doors come complete with ubiquitous palm trees, studded cacti, and perfectly pruned topiary. Backed by the hazy silhouette of a majestic mountain range, elongated homes seem to eerily float along a continuous curb of reminiscence. The scorching desert sun casts long ghostly shadows across the baked tarmac and luscious clipped lawns. Like a movie set, the mid-century modern homesteads appear deserted, their occupants snatched, distracted with an expulsion en masse, or eerily hidden behind a curtain of secrecy.
